Book Review – Wicked Fall by Sawyer Bennett

Goodreads Summary

Never in your wildest dreams could you begin to imagine all the filthy and depraved things that go on inside The Wicked Horse. Step inside and Woolf Jennings will make every one of your dirty fantasies come true.wicked fall

He’s covered in a facade of deception. An enticing blend of multi-millionaire and hot-as-hell Wyoming rancher, those that think they know Woolf Jennings admire his abilities to preside as CEO of his family’s cattle and oil empire. But only a privileged few truly understand what fuels the glitter of depravity in those gorgeous blue eyes. Only a few know he’s opened up a sinfully erotic and private sex club named The Wicked Horse right at the base of the beautiful Teton Mountain range.

Sweet Callie Hayes has returned home to Wyoming and is looking forward to starting her life over again. After a night of impetuosity, she’s managed to put herself right in Woolf’s line of sight… the man who she foolishly offered up her virginity to years ago and was flatly turned down.

Now Woolf is seeing that Callie is all grown up and has a kinky side to her that leaves him as confused as it does turned on. Worse yet, both Callie’s dirty desires and sweet heart are getting under his skin, and making Woolf question everything he’s ever believed about himself.

Review

Ok, I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this book.  I’ve read several books by Sawyer Bennett that I’ve enjoyed, but sadly, this book was a disappointment.

Wicked Fall is the story of Woolf Jennings, multi-millionaire owner of a huge ranch in Wyoming, who also owns a sex club – a private sex club.

Callie Hayes has moved back to Wyoming after a bad break up.  She ends up in Woolf’s bar and in his sight.

I am way over the whole BDSM (which this book doesn’t have) sex club ménage scene.  To be honest, I’m not really sure why I finished this book.  I skipped a lot of parts due to general boredom.  I would not recommend this book and won’t be reading on.

Happy reading.

What I’m currently reading

Axel by Megan O’Brien.  I just found out that there are two new books out in this series, so I was all over it.  This is an MC book with some uber alpha males.  I really liked the first two books in the series, and this book is really good so far.

What I recently finished

Just finished the Last Call series by Sawyer Bennett.  Book 5 was Shaken, Not Stirred.  You can see my full review here.  I also tried reading A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin, but I can’t get into it (and I freaking LOVE the show).

What I plan to read next

I think I’m going to read Charged by Jay Crownover.  I really liked Built, and I’m excited to read this one.  And I’m super excited because the second book in the Winston Brothers series is coming out Tuesday (yeah!!!).

Book Review – With a Twist by Sawyer Bennett

Goodreads Summary

Wyatt Banks is ready to give one woman the world. Unfortunately, his job as a cop tends to interfere with other goals. When Wyatt is sent deep undercover to investigate a sex slave ring, he doesn’t have time to do anything but focus on staying alive in a dark and dangerous underworld.

Sensual couple

Wyatt isn’t alone though in his quest to save the women that are being sold into sexual slavery.

His partner, FBI Agent Andrea Somerville, is immersed just as deeply as he is, and she’s the bait to lure the sex slavers out into the open, as she poses as an erotic dancer in an attempt to snare the enemy. But danger runs as high as the sparks between them, and now Wyatt is caught between the job he loves and the woman he wants.

Review

This is the 4th book in the Last Call series by Sawyer Bennett and by far the best one.  With a Twist is the story of Wyatt, a cop who is called in to work in an undercover sting operation to take down a dirty SOB who sells women into slavery, and Andrea, an FBI agent who goes in as a stripper to bring down the same operation.

This book had a much darker storyline than the previous three books, and I think that is what I found appealing about it.  Andrea and Wyatt met under some extreme circumstances, working together to bring down a corrupt organization that sells women into slavery (yuck).

The suspense in this book was pretty believable, and the pace moved nicely.  I was engaged from the beginning, and SB writes these books in the first person, alternating POV, which I LOVE.

I freaking loved Wyatt.  We’ve met him briefly in the other books, but it was nice to have a whole book dedicated to just him.  Andrea was a pretty tough chick too, and she endured the shit they went through while undercover like a champ.

I really enjoyed this book, and I would recommend it.

Happy reading.

What I’m currently reading

With a Twist by Sawyer Bennett.  This is the 4th book in the “Last Call” series and by far the best.  This book has a bit of a romantic suspense, which makes it much more appealing.  Add to that the Wyatt is awesome and I’m loving this book.  Should be done with it later today.

What I recently finished

I finished “The Sweetest Seduction” by Crista McHugh last week, but didn’t do a full review.  Mostly because the book was so boring.  I’m honestly not sure why I even finished the book, but I won’t be reading on.

After that, I read “Grit” by JC Valentine.  This was the first MC book I’ve read in a long time, and I really enjoyed it.  The heroine was really likable, and the hero was a single dad (I’m a sucker for a single dad in books).  This was a fast read, and a really good book, and I would recommend it.

What I plan to read next

I’ve had the Cindy Gerard Black Ops series on my kindle for a few years now, and I think I’m going to start on that series.

Book Review – Sugar on the Edge by Sawyer Bennett

Goodreads Summary

He’s utterly alone…Tortured and existing in a dark spiral of despair, bestselling British author, Gavin Cooke, has come to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to escape the seedy lifestyle he had been living in London and in a desperate attempt to regain his writing focus. He’s twisted, bitter and angry at the world. He’s a loner… needing not a single thing other than his Scotch and a laptop upon which he can bang out his next erotic, dark thriller.

Sensual couple in blue jeans

She’s running in place and getting nowhere…Savannah Shepherd’s life is falling apart. Her dream of being a wildlife photographer seems a distant memory and she’s barely able to make ends meet. Driving herself forward with no clear goals apparent, she’s about ready to pack up her bags and head home with her tail between her legs.

Two unlikely lovers…He’s raw, forceful and a dirty talker. She’s a flowers and romance type of girl. Yet within each other, they find a mutual craving that can only be satisfied by giving in to their desires for one another.
Lust turns into something more… something they were not looking for but tentatively accept. Will it be enough to push them past the obstacles of Gavin’s bitter past?

Review

Sugar on the Edge is the story of Savannah, former roommate of Gabby and current roommate of Casey.  Savannah is a photographer struggling to make ends meat, and she also works as a house cleaner to make extra money.  Casey sells a huge house to author Gavin Cooke, a British author who is looking for his solitude.  Gavin mentions to Casey that he’s looking for someone to clean his house, and Casey recommends Savannah.

When Savannah accepts the job, she arrives and finds Gavin in boxer shorts and sporting a massive hangover.  He is also pretty much exposing himself to her.

Gavin has some major league baggage, and I won’t spoil why, but it’s really sad and understandable.  Savannah was a little timid, but quickly came out of her shell.

Gavin did some stupid shit in this book, but overall he was a good guy.  Once he finally opened up to Savannah, he became way more likable.  He ended up being very sweet and thoughtful, and really likable.

Another solid read in the series.

Happy reading and happy weekend.

What I recently finished

I finished Worth It All by Claudia Connor yesterday – will do a full review later today.  I loved this book; hero was in a car accident and has a prosthetic leg, and meets a little girl with the same.  The little girl will melt your heart.  Swoon.

What I plan to read next

Not sure; tried the OJ book, didn’t like it (because I hate books with tons of details, not because it was bad).  Maybe Finley by Ella Frank, though I discovered today it’s m/m (which I’m ok with, just don’t read too often).  Maybe Rookie Mistake by Tracey Ward.  Or maybe something else….any ideas on what I should read next?
